Beauty and brilliance rise to the surface through both aqueous and scorched soundscapes.

Decaying Spheres introduce Polish producer Sebby Kowal to the label, gifting listeners a release in which a half-dormant world appears, experienced through a somnambulist state.

Each venture within Wonders presents a grounding element to the sonic experience – most often muffled activity or flowing water – through which weave tenderly composed and arranged ambient pads. Through this, Kowal allows the listener passage through a range of emotive journeys.

Always & Forever, for instance, shines a particularly gloomy light on a hypnagogic vision, a sense of reality only perceived through the distant trickling of water and indecipherable movements. Foreboding pads blanket the atmosphere, braver chords bobbing to the forefront of the listener’s scope before losing their courage and fading away.

Its follow-up, Lavender, showcases a world drained of life to an almost dystopian hopelessness. Kick drums dive to a morose depth, along with a downbeat melody. Untempered crackling pushes through, drifting as a voice communicating from an unseen location in one moment, to sounding like a cold scanner, searching unsuccessfully for signs of life in the next.

Though often sullen and unforgiving, Wonders will surprise listeners with moments of brilliant freedom. The airy and expansive titular track, communicating feelings of rebirth and taking influence from sodden 90s pads, or the penultimate Good Night, in which even showering rain can’t keep a warm feeling of absolution from emerging.

Sebby Kowal contributes to the ever-growing selection of talent releasing through Decaying Spheres. In Wonders, whether it be an atmosphere that is cold and almost lifeless or flowing with activity and comfort, a strand of humanity runs through each and every track.
