about

DS015

Decaying Spheres are excited to announce ‘Terminals’, the latest release from collaborative siblings Druid and Jok. Between them, the London-based duo have crafted a stunningly bleak and beautiful album of cinematic melodies, layered textures and forward-minded bass-scapes.

On the surface, ’Terminals’ renders barren scenes of a gaseous, dystopian landscape, but there’s more at play here. Created during lockdown, the record quickly draws the listener in on a first-person walk-through of its isolated world, taking in spectral rave and grime stylings with a distinctly sci-fi lean.

Before you have a chance to press pause, wide-screen sawtooth synths cascade and collapse, leaving rubble and ruin in their wake. Trance-like leads loop and build, creating a nodding pulse. But drums are a distant memory as the duo opt for weightless ambient drops for more of a blissed-out post-club comedown listening party.

As ‘Terminals’ plays out, Druid and Jok offer moments of reflection in the form of sublime soundtrack orchestrations for the mournful scenes they experienced on the grey and gloomy mid-lockdown London streets.

Outside of composing their own productions, Druid and Jok established the label and monthly podcast ‘SYNES’ in late 2017, focused on pushing the future sounds of wave, grime and club music.
